Tell us about yourself and your time at bel ami Salon
I have been at bel ami for almost two years! I’m a dog mom, I love Zoey to death. I am a foodie for sure, I love to eat. I recently got married, I love my husband, he is the best. I love what I do. It feels like I have been here forever, it doesn’t feel like work. I get to come and do what I love and hang out with the people I love, it is family and group oriented here. With everything that comes up and has happened, I have always felt supported and loved by every single person here!
Why do you do hair?
I get to touch everyone in a different way, I feel like I get to help bring out the best version of themselves. And, it helps me a lot since my clients are so involved in my life and they all want to help and be a part of my life as well. They give as much to me as I give to them. I don’t think there is anything else I would want to do.
What is your area of expertise/favorite thing to do?
Color definitely is my go-to. I have been working a little more on my haircutting skills since you can’t do an amazing color and not have an amazing cut to back it up with. I love fashion colors, I think they are fun and creative. They allow me to have more freedom and there is a lot of fun to it.
When you aren’t at work, what are you doing?
Hanging out with my dog and my husband! We always are finding new places to eat, especially places that we can take our dog Zoey with us. If I’m not doing any of those things I am hanging out with my sister Hannah.
(Note- if you’d like to learn more about Hannah’s story, check out our blog post about her!)
If you could take a trip anywhere, where would you go?
Tahiti. We are currently looking at honeymoon destinations, and we are actually looking at Hawaii and the Bahamas, but I keep looking at Tahiti because it is so beautiful! If money wasn’t an issue, and time wasn’t an issue, that is definitely where I would like to go.
What is your favorite food?
It kind of varies, but most days something Mexican, I’ve been on a Mexican food kick for the last couple months. But, also sushi. But, also chicken wings. Chicken wings are a big, big, big, food group in my life! I love chicken wings, I don’t know why, I am just obsessed with them. And, I’ve been exploring food a lot lately, I used to be really scared of spicy foods. Since I’ve met Chris, he’s pushed me to try some of it and I’ve enjoyed a lot of it.
Who is your favorite band/musician?
I am a mixture, somedays all I rock is Spanish music, some days not. I wouldn’t be able to spin a specific one because it really depends on the day. I usually go for mixes or Pandora shuffles and if something sounds good I’ll look into it but I don’t necessarily always go back to the same stuff.
Tell us a crazy story from your life
So, I had literally just turned 18. It was my first trip out of the country by myself, going back to Costa Rica by myself and having a whole couple weeks by myself. It was supposed to be me, my sister Andrea, and my friend Yara. So, when we get to the airport to leave, we find out that Andrea’s passport was expired. So, she couldn’t go to Costa Rica. She had to be driven back to the house while Yara and I went to Costa Rica. For some weird reason, we booked a trip that had a layover in a weird part of Mexico. We weren’t going to stay there or anything, it was like a 3 or 4 hour layover. Well, its Mexico, so you can drink at 18. So, we get there and we’re like “let’s get some drinks!” We order fries, and mozzarella sticks, and beers and shots, all that. And they didn’t even check our IDs. We got drunk! We got on the plane to Costa Rica and I was so sick on that trip. Food, and alcohol and flying. Not good.
Picture this: You’ve been given an elephant. You can’t give it away or sell it. What do you do with the elephant?
Well, I would have to sell my house and buy a bigger one. Buy some land, and make a giant water hole for the elephant. And then at that point I’ll need more animals. You can’t just have an elephant by itself! They are friendly animals they need a partner! So, I’d need a second elephant. How do I get a second elephant?
What do you wish more people knew about you?
I feel like I am an open book. I’m pretty open with my life but, I feel like I have changed a lot from the person I used to be. I’ve always been very geared and open toward people but I have learned to build boundaries around myself and I’ve grown up a lot. I see it as personal growth and I feel proud of how far I’ve come.
